The project seeks to restore one of South America’s last remaining biological corridors, yet this region — Argentina’s leading yerba mate producer — still suffers from intensive, unsustainable practices and planned deforestation.

Implementation Area 1036 ha The project is designed with a programmatic, opt-in approach, allowing the project area to be progressively consolidated as producers transition from traditional to organic systems.

INTERVENTION STRATEGIES

PROJECT STRENGTH

Bosques Productores de Andresito’s unique location fostering an exceptional abundance of pollinators and seed sources that support the project’s regenerative activities — a rare sanctuary of hope in an Atlantic Forest where most regions lie devastated

GREASTEST RISKS

Extreme summer heat causes drastic drying of new plantings and reduces the profitability of existing yerba mate.

It also affects native fruit trees, threatening the forest fruits that supply the region’s Atlantic Forest-based jam and preserves industry
